3 Questions Wednesday with Shannon Taylor Vannatter

Me with my cupPlease welcome Shannon Taylor Vannatter, award-winning, central Arkansas author, to 3 Questions Wednesday.

Glad you could join us, Shannon. First question:

What books have fortified you as a writer? How?

ShannonGMC: Goals, Motivation, & Conflict by Debra Dixon. An agent suggested this book to me years ago. At the time, it was out of print and a used copy was $19.99. I had just quit my job to be a stay-at-home mom, and that seemed like way too much to spend for a used book. A few years later, a multi-published author did a paid critique for me at a writers conference and she suggested the same book. I gave in and bought it.

How? It strengthened my characters and my books. If I get stuck, I go back and look at my GMC. Sometimes I tweak it, and sometimes it just gets me back on track.

I’ve heard a lot about that book. I need to check it out…

What secret talents do you have?

ShannonI’m very crafty, and most people who know me know that. Although I used to crochet and cross stitch, I just don’t have the time or patience for it anymore. My crafting these days consists of quicker, less detailed projects.

I bet you love Pinterest then 🙂 Last question:

If we came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for us?

Shannon: Probably chicken enchiladas, mexicorn, and homemade salsa. It’s my go-to meal for company.

I love homemade salsa! Thanks, Shannon, for dropping by…

    • Hey Linda, thanks for stopping in. A memory board is made of fabric. It has ribbon held by buttons. You slip pictures or appt cards, whatever behind the ribbon. Some people call them fabric bulletin boards.

  1. It is if I may say so myself. I found the enchilada recipe years ago in a magazine, then tweaked it according to my family’s preferences. The salsa, I actually came up with on my own.
